Hi everyone, we are going to host Club Training Sessions starting this week. Welcome to join!
Here is the plan: 1. 8 specific badminton skills/topics will be introduced by 8 different coaches, along with their assistant. They will host the training session once per week. Coach can decide when to hold the training session in that specific week. Training duration is flexible based on the coach's plan. Recommendation is from 1 hour to 1.5 hours. 2. Coaches will post info (when/where) about his/her training session in Facebook group or on this website at least 2 days ahead of the training time. 3. One court will be reserved for training session only. Attendees can choose to or not to join a certain training session. Once joined, he/she won't be allowed to play at other courts until that training session ends. Please bring your own racket. 4. It's free for coaches to decide what forms the training session should be. It's right for the coach to cancel the training session if attendees are less than 4 people. 5. Detailed schedule shown as image attached. It's ok for coaches to change topics if necessary, but please make sure Xiang/Allen/Chang are informed about the change. 6. Through this training session, we hope to introduce our understanding/ideas about badminton to people that are interested. 7. Please appreciate and respect the effort of all coaches/assistants/volunteers! They are the ones who make this possible! Thank y'all! UT Badminton Club

Here is the first draft of training sessions.
1. Each coach, along with one assistant, covers one specific topic during training. 2. Coach can decide when to hold the training session in that specific week. Training duration is flexible. Recommendation is from 1 hour to 1.5 hours. 3. It's right for the coach to cancel the training session if attendees are less than 4 people. 4. Coaches will post info about his/her training session in Facebook group or on this website at least 2 days ahead of the training time. 5. One court will be reserved for training session only. 6. Attendees can choose to or not to join a certain training session. Once joined, he/she won't be allowed to play at other courts until that training session ends. 7. It's free for coaches to decide what forms the training session should be. Recommendation: talk with Annie, Xiaoyu, or anyone else who has experience in official training. 8. It's ok for coaches to change topics if necessary, but please make sure Xiang/Allen/Chang are informed about the change. 9. Through this training session, we hope to introduce our understanding/ideas about badminton to people that are interested. Rome wasn't built in a day, but we hope we can show people one possible way to get started. 10. Thank y'all all the volunteers! Here are the results for our training session discussions. (results collected from questionnaire on 9/14)
19 members joined the questionnaire. 18 thinks it's necessary to hold training session. 10 considered themselves as higher/medium level. 9 considered as beginner level. Training session duration should be around 1 hour. (once per week) We will use one of the three courts for training. So, what gonna happen next is: for those who considered themselves as higher/medium level players and are willing to volunteer in the training sessions, please contact Xiang Li before 9/30 (Friday). And we will discuss more specific details about how/when/what for the training sessions. Some graphs from the questionnaire are attached below: Recently we received suggestions from some club members that we should hold training sessions in the club, to help each other get better at badminton skills.
Due to our limited resources at UT, it's difficult for us to hire external coaches. Therefore, the most practical solution for club training session would be: club members, who are in higher level at badminton, volunteer to help beginner-level players in the club. However, we do understand and respect that each member has his/her own opinion on whether/how/when to hold the training session. That's why we made this questionnaire to collect your opinions: link at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VMR6HSV Please fill out this questionnaire if you are current club member. Deadline is: 9/23 10pm. We will keep y'all updated about the results and follow-ups. Thanks for your cooperation! Here is the link (Google Docs):

The air flow was affecting badminton play to a large extent.
We tried: 1. talk with RSC staff, 2. meeting with one of rec sports club directors. The outcome is: It's difficult to adjust AC fan at RSC. Neither RSC staff nor badminton club are authorized to do that. The facility team has other reasons not to change the fan. The solution is: From Sep. 22nd, which is about 3 weeks from now, to the end of this semester, our club practice will be moved to GRE. Based on our experience, the air flow at GRE is much better for badminton. After all, we feel bad about the AC fan issue at RSC, but there isn't much we can do other than moving to GRE, which will happen in 3 weeks. Thanks for your cooperation.
